Techniques

We offer a variety of techniques here at StayWell Chiropractic. By utilizing several different techniques we are able to accommodate all of our patients and adjust them according to their body’s needs and current condition.

Diversified Chiropractic Technique (DCT)

The DCT requires short but fast thrusts over the joints that are being restricted. This technique may be used over a period of several appointments, with the end goal being to restore the range of motion in a joint. This type of technique has three objectives a chiropractor hopes to accomplish: to restore joint dysfunction, enhance movement and restore the alignment of the spine.

Activator Technique (aka Activator Method)

This type of modality utilizes a small handheld device that is called the Activator Adjusting Instrument. This instrument will provide the doctor with the ability to deliver a quick, low force impulse to subluxated areas of the spine. The Activator Technique provides chiropractors with two advantages over other techniques. This method will decrease the chance muscles will tense and resist the adjustment because the device is so quick, and secondly, the instrument only adjusts the problem area to provide more effective results.

Thompson Technique (Thompson Drop Technique)

This technique uses a drop table to help chiropractors provide high velocity and low force adjustments. This type of technique gives patients a less forceful adjustment and reduces wear and tear on the doctor themselves due to the fact the drop table is helping in the adjustment. The Thompson Drop Technique looks at your cervical and pelvic movement from your leg length so the chiropractor can diagnose any subluxations or other spine issues.
